The report for 2021, prepared by the American Michelson FoundAnimals Foundation, surveyed a sample of rental home owners and tenants with pets in the United States. The survey showed that 79% of respondents who own rented houses indicated that pets are allowed in their homes. In addition, 35% of the sample group are tenants who moved out of their previous rented housing due to the inability to live with a pet.

In Thailand, many condominiums are not allowed to live with pets even in their own apartments. But more and more developers understand that because of this condition they lose customers.

According to Euromonitor, in Thailand in 2019, approximately 34% of all Thai households in Thailand kept dogs and cats. And this will increase to 37% of the total number of Thai households in the country in 2022, reflecting the growing popularity of pets.

This is partly due to the desire to have a loyal friend helping to relax during COVID-19.

Megatrend Pet Humanization is an opportunity for housing developers in Thailand to adjust their strategies to develop residential projects targeted at specific target groups by developing residential projects that meet the needs of animal husbandry. This applies not only to condominiums, but also to settlements with private houses. This implies the presence of rooms for washing paws, the use of materials that animals cannot spoil, the presence of a place in the apartment for an animal, a place for walking near the house or on the territory.

It is believed that having pets will remain an important megatrend in Thailand in the future. Generation Z, Generation Y and the elderly prefer pets as companions to solve the problem of loneliness.

Including the trend of smaller families with fewer children or without children – promotes the breeding of pets.
